Ram EDM 

Ram EDM (electrical discharge machining) utilizes an often times graphite tool to machine a feature into a part. The tooling emits a spark accurately eroding away the part being machined. The benefit of Ram EDM is being able to create a desired shape into a part extremely accurately whether or not the feature is blind or through the part.  

In Ram machines, the part is surrounded by oil that helps control the heat of the spark as well as allow the debris to escape via flushing. After a Ram machine finishes a feature, there is no additional work required to remove burrs.

Ram EDM machines can hold tolerances of +/- .0005" as well as deliver up to an 20 Ra finish. For specific capabilities of all our machines, click here.
