Wire EDM
Wire EDM (electrical discharge machining) is a machining process by which an electrically-charged wire is used to cut away material. This process can be used on any electrically conductive material. The electrical discharge between the wire and the part creates a spark that erodes the material. Both the wire and part are submerged in deionized water which removes debris. This highly specialized process makes it possible to manufacture extremely small, delicate and/or intricate parts with a high degree of accuracy down to 1 micron (.000038”) and inside radii as small as .002”. Braneva Precision uses CNC-operated wire EDM machines capable of creating complex parts and with more than 28 years of experience, we have the expertise to manufacture parts of all shapes and sizes up to 8.60" thick.
